The Brown-Pusey House

Enjoy An Evening in Old Hollywood with Us!

Come celebrate the Brown-Pusey House’s 200 years anchoring downtown Elizabethtown’s Main and Poplar Streets!

“An Evening in Old Hollywood” Gala offers champagne and dancing! A Cigar and Bourbon Bar sponsored by Heaven Hill! Walk a red carpet, pose like a star for photos, and nosh on gourmet offerings.

It will be held Saturday, Sept. 13, from 7 – 11 p.m. Tickets are $100.

This is a fundraiser for the Brown-Pusey House, a 200-year-old building on the National Register of Historic Places that has numerous needs. Our primary goal for this event is to raise funds to add a second, handicap-accessible bathroom to our ballroom. It’s currently served by a single traditional bathroom, and that’s no longer sufficient.

We also have other needs related to maintaining a 200-year-old structure, as you can imagine. The financial power of our original endowments, while still greatly appreciated, has been eroded over time by inflation.

So as we start another century for Etown’s beloved Brown-Pusey House, we’re working to fund the next century – plus make sure everyone in our community can enjoy our wonderful physical connection to the past.

We also offer several sponsorship levels that will enable the community to recognize your support of the Brown-Pusey House. If you would like to be a sponsor, contact our Executive Director, LeAnne Perkins, at 270-765-2515, or email her at director@brownpuseyhouse.org.

New cookbook!

The Brown-Pusey House has published a new cookbook, “Aunt Beck’s Favorites,” in observance of the House’s 200th anniversary!

This is a fun gift for any cook who wonders how people made supper before electricity. It includes some of the hand-written recipes found in the House archives that Aunt Beck used to feed her boarders back in the mid- to late-1800s.

Aunt Beck was famous for her coffee (not like the coffee of today!) as well as her biscuits and applesauce. They’re included in this cookbook – as well as her asparagus, her corn fritters, and her soap. (No, we don’t suggest you eat the soap!)

Celebrate 200 Years of Hospitality with a fun little cookbook you can give as an Elizabethtown gift. Cost is $10 plus tax.

Stop by the House Tuesday – Friday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., to get your copy.! We are downtown at 128 N. Main St. You can also call us at (270) 765-2515.
